Basic Andragogical Training for Prison Educators Project n° 2018-1-RS01-KA204-000433 THE SECOND TRANSNATIONAL MEETING 09-10 May 2019, Belgrade, Serbia Faculty of Philosophy University of Belgrade REPORT

The second transnational meeting within the KA2 project supported by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union “Basic Andragogical Training for Prison Educators” (project ID number: 2018-1-RS01-KA204-000433) took place in the period from 9th of May 2019 to the 10th of May 2019 at the Faculty of Philosophy University of Belgrade where Serbian Association of Andragogists is situated.

The participants at the meeting were four members of Serbian Association of Andragogists (Bojan Ljujic, Aleksa Jovanovic, Jana Misovic and Natalija Gojak), two employees of Gebze Public Education Center from Turkey (Caglar Celik and Fatih Demirci) and two members of KOINE volunteering organization from Italy (Teresa Papa and Antonio Perna).

The main purpose of the meeting was designing the first draft version of Basic Andragogical Training for Prison Educators.

The first day of the second transnational meeting was dedicated to discussion and analysis of the empirical researches (interviewing and focus groups) and content analysis referring six competencies of prison educators which were indicated at the first transnational meeting that were also discussed earlier at the Skype meeting:

  1. Psychology of prisoners
  2. Didactics
  3. Communicational and social aspect
  4. Professional and soft skills development
  5. Planning and organization
  6. Evaluation and assessment

The discussion on abovementioned issues led to the operationalization of each prison educators competence and the foundations for making the first draft version of BATPE curriculum and manual were set up.

Participants at the meeting agreed that two working days are not sufficient to create entire BATPE curriculum and manual and some changes in meeting schedule were made. Instead of developing elements of curriculum and manual for each identified prison educators competence, participants decided to create the pattern according to which all the competencies will be transformed into BATPE curriculum and manual elements. So the second day of the meeting was dedicated to creating abovementioned pattern.

Also, during the second day of the meeting participants made the division of future activities among partners referring finalization, preparation and correctional assessment of the draft and final version of BATPE program/manual. The final agreement was that members of SAA develop BATPE curriculum and manual elements for two identified prison educators competencies according to the created pattern and that participants from the partners organizations develop another four competencies led by the SAA example. This should provide the consistency in the final version of BATPE educational program and manual.

Having all mentioned in mind, all participants at the meeting agreed that there is the objective need to make some slight changes in the project implementation schedule. So, the plan for the future is:

  • Developing two competencies of prison educators by the members of SAA according to the created pattern that will be included in the BATPE curriculum and manual – deadline: 10th of June 2019;
  • Developing another four competencies of prison educators by the members of partner organizations (GPEC and KOINE) according to the SAA example that will be included in the BATPE curriculum and manual – deadline: end of June 2019;
  • Finalization, preparation and correctional assessment of the final version of BATPE educational program/manual – deadline: end of July 2019 (as planned earlier).
